Xvid Encoding:
We tested video encoding performance using VirtualDub-MPEG version 1.6.15 and a multithreaded version of the Xvid codec, along with the LAME MT MP3 encoder for encoding audio. We did a two-pass encode of a 15-minute 276MB digital TV recording with a target file size of 100MB.

Time in Seconds (lower is better)
At 800MHz the CAS-4 Reaper and SLI Edition memory are both some 30 seconds slower, but the SLI Edition at CAS-3 is a lot better at only 10 seconds slower. The CAS-3 FlexXLC on the other hand slightly out performs the Corsair memory but the Kingston is still slightly faster. As the field increases the clock speed again the OCZ comes out slightly slower than the Corsair and Kingston on all accounts but it's only a fraction slower at most.
MP3 Encoding:
We used LAME MT for our audio encoding test - it's the multi-threaded version of the popular LAME MP3 encoder. We ran tests with both Intel's and Microsoft's compilers - naturally, the Intel compiler resulted in some performance increases on Intel's processors. We converted all 18 tracks from Moby's popular Play album to a 192kbps variable bit-rate MP3.

MP3 encoding and again the red lines are consistently slightly longer (therefore slower) than the Corsair and Kingston using the Intel compiled LAME MT 3.97. Having said that, the difference is only a second or so at most.

Time in Seconds (lower is better)
The low latency Corsair simply out does everything else by a good margin even in such a short test. Setting to OCZ to a CAS-5 latency causes it to be quite clearly slower in some cases but not all. Overall the performance is on average fractionally slower overall.
